A very common question we get on a fairly regular basis is, "What ring sizes will make this weave?"
To solve this question, We have created a chart that recommends OUR FAVOURITE Gauge and Ring Size for the more common weaves. Our suggestion may not be the only ring that will work, but in our opinion is the most common or popular.
Please remember that spring back will have an effect on all metals. Some softer metals might not work at all, and some strong metals might be looser than you expected. Also, as wire stock changes, there maybe slight changes in springback, thickness, ect... that isn't noticeable until you try a weave that is very picky on aspect ratio.
THANKS TO ALL THE INTEREST IN OUR CHART!
THIS CHART THAT WAS FIRST CREATED ABOUT 12 YEARS AGO. I AM GATHERING DATA TO ADD RPI (RINGS PER INCH) And Updating weaves. It's a huge project that requires going through stock to FIND all the weaves in all the different gauges. Or making a new sample. I'm going to try and get some updated versions, and also have a download sheet. Thanks for your patience! This is a when I have free time project.. and that isn't often.
16 SWG = 1.6MM
19 AWG = 1.0MM - Silver Filled and Stainless Steel Only
18 SWG =1.2MM
20 AWG = 0.80MM
22 AWG = 0.64MM
24 AWG = 0.51MM
THESE SIZE SUGGESTIONS WORK WITH OUR RINGS. I CANNOT SPEAK TO RINGS MADE BY OTHER PEOPLE - WE ALL DO THINGS A LITTLE DIFFERENTLY, BUT THESE ARE THE SIZE COMBOS THAT WORK FOR US! THANKS EVERYONE!!
