Gold is a very soft metal which is very hard to use in chainmail. Gold Filled Wire is simply brass wire, that has 14kt Gold covering the outer 20% of the thickness of the wire. It is much higher quality than gold plate. Precious metal availability -- we do not have a huge stock of these rings made due to the extreme expense for the wire. Please allow a few extra days prior to shipping for these rings to be made.. We'll let you know when you order if there will be a delay.

Rings that are 22 and smaller will be snip cut, not saw cut. They are too small for our current saw set up and get jammed and make a mess. Plus, sawcutting small rings can make the rings too small for use. For example, 24g 1/16" will NOT make byzantine if sawcut.
