Jewel Beetle Shells
Some of you may be thinking "Beetles - as in bugs??" YES! These beautiful shells are actually the exoskeletons of beetles.
The colour of each shell is beautiful - The photos do not do them justice. They are a beautiful shimmery green, but in the right light they appear blue/purple. They match our Peacock blue Niobium incredibly well. These shells are very unique and no two shells are identical because the size of the beetle makes a different size shell.
These Jewel Beetle Shells are farmed in Thailand. The shells are slighlty flexible, but will break if abused, or forced. We recommend using them in earrings and necklaces - they may not hold up as well in bracelets.
The Elytra (wings) are the long shells. These come with one hole drilled into the top of each shell.
The shorter rounder looking shells are called Protonum (neck) and have two holes drilled in each shell, they more closely resemble a bead.
All shells are sold in a bag of 10 peices. They are hand packaged and arranged by size. So you won't get one HUGE shell and one tiny shell, however one bag may have larger shells overall than another bag.
WING SHELLS- Elytra - $4.00/bag of 10
NECK SHELLS - Protonum - $5.00/bag of 10
